Consultation on Admission Arrangements for All Saints Church of England (VA) Primary School, Datchworth for Academic Year 2027/2028
I am writing to let you know, as an interested party, of our intention to review the school’s admission arrangements for the Academic Year 2027/2028. It is a statutory requirement to consult at least every seven years with all parties who may have an interest in our Admission Policy.
This consultation is open to:
- Parents and carers of children of appropriate age (from 2 years) living in the Parish
- All Saints Datchworth PCC
- St Albans Diocesan Education Board
- Datchworth Parish Council
- The governing bodies of other local schools.
As part of this process, we wish to inform our community that the Schools Adjudicator (an independent official appointed by the Secretary of State for Education) previously reduced our Published Admission Number (PAN), and that the governing body agreed to reduce our Reception PAN from September 2025. This means that since September 2025, we have been able to admit a maximum of 15 pupils into Reception each year.
This change was necessary based on the school’s financial position, and modelling of pupil numbers in the area provided by Hertfordshire County Council’s pupil number forecasts. This enabled us to begin to combine classes and manage staffing costs.
The Admission Policy for 2027-28 is proposed to continue to have a maximum of 15 pupils.
We invite all members of our community and other interested parties to review the proposed admission arrangements and share their views. Full details of the proposed policy are available on our school website Admissions Consultation or by request from the school office.
Responses to this consultation should be sent in writing to admin@datchworth.herts.sch.uk by Sunday 7th December 2025.
The governing body will review all responses before finalising arrangements and publishing the determined policy by 28 February 2026.
