Diwali in Reception
In Reception this week, children have been learning about the festival of Diwali that is celebrated by multiple faiths (including Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and some Buddhists).
This festival took place during half term and is known as the 'Festival of Lights'.
The children have learnt about the different ways faiths celebrate this festival and they have explored some of these through:
*making their own clay 'Diya Lamps'
*using Powder Paint to make Rangoli patterns
*making and tasting a traditional Indian sweet 'Coconut Barfi'
*lighting our Diya lamps and having some time to reflect together.
They also learnt a traditional Hindu dance.
