Hermelin - Whole School Writing

This week we completed a whole-school writing unit based on the book Hermelin.  Take a look at what has been going on across the school.

Willow Class (Reception) had a special delivery of missing items that Hermelin delivered.

Oak Class (Y1/2) really enjoyed spotting different details in the illustrations and did a fantastic job of writing as if they were Hermelin.  This can be seen in Hallie’s writing.

Year 3 planned and wrote their own versions of the Hermelin story.

Class 4 enjoyed wearing Hermelin mouse ears and using freeze-framed scenes to help them explore the main character and to understand the story. They used this to help them write diary entries thinking about the thoughts and feelings Hermelin would have had when his 'Thank you party' went wrong!

Year 5 loved learning all about Hermelin and his detective skills. They took part in some thoroughly entertaining hot-seating before writing some excellent stories using suspense.

Year 6, after being left in suspense all week and wanting to read to the end, finally finished reading the book on Thursday. They enjoyed writing another detective case for Hermelin to solve.
