Lots of lovely learning
Learning is well underway at All Saints this term and progress is already evident. In the last few days, a visiting Early Years adviser commented on the excellent routines and relationships evident in Willow Class and said that she loved seeing the children sharing their “All About Me” books with their peers.
This week I have also had the privilege of discussing every single child with their class teacher/s. Together we looked at assessment data from the end of last year, noted progress and identified next steps to ensure that all children are making the best possible progress. This means that we have noticed barriers to learning and identified how to overcome these and also that we have discussed how we can extend the understanding and opportunities available to children who are ready for this. I love this part of my job because I get to think hard about teaching and learning and because it reminds me just how much we know about our children and how much they benefit from their teachers’ experience and constant strive to support them to flourish.
We have started using a new resource, Essential Writing, to support our English teaching.
This has helped children produce some lovely writing such as Jessie’s (Y3) descriptions of Mini Rabbit from ‘Not Lost’;
wonderful graphic novels in Year 4 as seen here from Lucas and Jenson (Y4)
and fantastic descriptive writing from Marnie and Arthur (Y5).
