Monster Phonics Day 2025

Today was Monster Phonics Day at school and children in Willow and Oak Class came dressed as one of the characters from Monster Phonics. 

In Reception, children talked about their favourite monsters and at the end of the day adults were invited to join the class for their phonics session with Miss Goble and to understand more about the phonics scheme.

In Oak class (Y1/2), children created their own comic strip animations on Purple Mash using Monster Phonic characters.  Adults were invited in to class to play phonic games with their children at the end of the day. Year 1 games focused on Phase 5 phonics to support reading fluency and Year 2 focused on Phase 6  which extends phonics to support the move to spelling accuracy.  It was nice to hear parents commenting on what they had learnt about phonics during the session and to enjoy spending time playing with their children.
