Year 3 - Maths Final

On Tuesday afternoon, four of our outstanding Year 3 pupils proudly represented the school in the HfL Maths Challenge Grand Final, competing against 22 other teams from across the country.
This is a truly special achievement, as it is the first time any of our teams have reached the Grand Final. The event was incredibly competitive, with an impressive average score of 124 out of 165 points across all teams.
The children rose brilliantly to the challenge, working exceptionally well together under considerable time pressure. Their teamwork, communication and determination were evident throughout all four demanding rounds of general questions, estimation, spot the shape and perplexing puzzles.
We are delighted to share that the team achieved a fantastic score of 140, earning them the bronze medal and an impressive 3rd place finish—an exceptional result in such a strong field. The children thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, especially the well-earned biscuits and the fantastic hats kindly made by Mrs Leach, complete with colourful maths symbols on the sides, which added to the excitement and team spirit of the day.
We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm, resilience and collaboration. What an amazing achievement! Well done to our Year 3 mathematicians for representing the school so brilliantly.
