Year 5 - Maths Challenge

On Monday, a team of Year 5 children took part in the HfL Education Maths Challenge.  Together, they answered a range of maths questions including general maths questions, estimation and complex conundrums. Each live round was scored out of 50 and this total was then added to their score (out of 45) based on answers to some ‘Perplexing Puzzles’!

They were competing against schools from across the country and competitions were held over 4 different days so we had to wait until today to find out how they had ranked. Today the results came in and we learnt that the team scored 158 out of 195 with the average being 131.  This is a phenomenal score and meant that they missed out on a place in the live final by only 2 points.  This is the best that any team have done from our school.

Congratulations to Mason, AK, Toby and Rupert who represented the school so magnificently; you should be very proud of what you have achieved.  Many thanks also to Mrs Moore, Mrs Amin and Mrs Amani for preparing the team so well.
