Year 5 - Mini Police and Science

Year 5 children have been working hard across the curriculum to develop their learning. On Wednesday, they began a PSHE project called Mini Police, in collaboration with Hertfordshire Police. This week, Dawn, who is a PCSO, introduced herself and the project to the class.
Over the coming weeks, the children will be covering topics such as road safety, personal safety, staying safe online and anti-social behaviour. At the end of this project, the class will be visited by a range of police departments to look at vehicles and equipment the police use.
In Science, Year 5 has been learning all about the heart. The children have learnt about the 4 chambers of the heart as well as the role of arteries and veins. This week, the children got a chance to look at a pig's heart in the lesson and see first hand what the aorta, ventricles and atrium look like!
